Ultrasound of the hip joints in infants

Purpose of the study

Infant hip ultrasound is indicated in newborns and infants up to 18 months of age. The purpose of the examination is early diagnosis (in the first weeks after birth) of congenital hip dysplasia in the child. The examination makes it possible to identify possible abnormalities and determine the possible severity of the defect.

The result of the test is provided in the form of a description immediately after the test.

Preparation for the study

The study requires no preparation.

The test takes a few minutes, is safe for the child, can be repeated at short notice, and is performed by an orthopedic doctor using an ultrasound machine.
